LG K800 mobile phone

The tasty Chocolate phone - the sharpest handset since the RAZR

With its dark, minimalist front, hidden touchpad and executive slide action, the K800 "Chocolate phone" has been a massive success in the Far East. It's the first of LG's premium Black Label range of hedonistic handsets.

When shut, the invisible touchpad and blended screen mean it looks dead. Slide it open, however, and the touchpad and screen spring into life. The pad glows cherry red, and responds to the lightest touch. The screen isn't amazingly hi-res, but it's pretty bright.

Like a lot of these handbag handsets, the tech specs are pretty basic. You only get 128MB of memory - that's enough for about 30 tunes - with no card slots for expansion. The one-megapixel camera isn't going to give Nikon any sleepless nights, either. Talk quality is quite scratchy, and the charger port is so fragile you have to constantly hold it to prevent disconnection.

But before you snicker (sorry) and write this off as just another phone for style tossers, consider this: the battery lasted through a whopping four days of constant showing off. It's an absolute pleasure to use. It looks like sex. Put simply, if you can live without extras, then this is the most desirable mobile since the RAZR.
