Garmin iQue M4 satnav PDA

A good satnav but where are the up-to-date PDA extras?

This Garmin effort is satnav first and PDA second. Flip out the GPS receiver on the back and it's ready to roll, jumping straight into the route-planning software.

The interface features big buttons, so even the ham-fisted can type addresses. The 3D map is simple to track but the voice prompts could come a bit earlier to avoid last minute lane changes.

It's a generation behind when it comes to the PDA operating system, with only the older version of Pocket PC installed. You can still organise your life, but you'll miss out on some of the newer release's visual niceties. If you're after wireless connections, you'll need to go elsewhere - there's no built-in Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

If satnav is your main priority then this little fella is more than eager to serve. However, given that this is the most expensive model on test, a few more extras and a newer OS wouldn't go amiss.

WE LOVE

Excellent satnav abilitie
A pleasure to use

WE HATE

Lack of wireless capabilities

WE SAY

Satnav functionality is great, but it's deficient in other areas and a bit over-priced
