The golf bag evolves

Meet the KALAA evolution - the innovative golf trolley heading for a course near you.

Golf bag designs haven't changed much since the inception of the sport famously described by Winston Churchill as "a good walk spoiled". We're talking a cylindrical bag with a big hole at the top for sticking your clubs in.

But take a look at the evolution (yes, that's a lower case "e"), a forthcoming bag from Staffordshire-based KALAA Sports. It's positively bursting with innovative ideas that should ensure your round goes as smoothly as a Tiger Woods swing.

For starters, it's fully enclosed, so clubs will stay completely dry without the need for head covers. Its tough plastic casing and extruded aluminium frame are also designed to ensure that no light-fingered tea leaf can get his filthy crack-stained hands on your prized Callaway irons - unless he's somehow half-inched the key off you. The clubs themselves are gripped individually inside on a carousel - you rotate the dial at the top to get your desired

There are two versions of the evolution available - one powered, one manual - but both have wheels so they can be easily carted about the fairway. Obviously, the powered one will do most of the hard work for you, leaving you to worry about your next shot rather than a strained shoulder.

The evolution will be launched at the London Golf Show next month, but prices are already up on the website . A manual bag will cost £245 and an electric model will set you back £495.
