The daddy of all v-editing stations
Fancy yourself as the next George Lucas? Start by buying Sony's new Hi-Def editing behemoth!
Not exactly lightweights in the video-editing game as it is, Sony have decided to build the ultimate hi-def video editing monster. The newest member of the Vaio family is the VGC-RM1N. Designed especially with editing in mind, it comes with a load of features to make your life easier: by separating the main computer unit from the optical drives, you have a lot more flexibility for setting up your system just the way you like it.
To make editing easier, you get a jog controller which makes finding the precise editing points easier, and you get 10 USB 2.0 ports and 2 i-LINK ports located on the front of the main unit: rather generous, as we always seem to be running out of free USB 2.0 ports! Pre-installed in the computer is a whopping terabyte of storage space. If you want more, you've got space for an additional 4 SATA hard drives, which means you have room for, oh, we don't know - a gazillion gigabytes?
The VAIO-RM1N comes with Windows Vista Business and Premiere Pro, and plenty of hardware to get the most from it: it has the bleeding-edge Intel Core 2 Quad processor, which essentially gives you 4 processors to work with, and of course full Blu-Ray playback and recording to get your masterpiece out to the world.
If you fancy one, it's available from 20th July 2007. The package costs £2,499, and you'll need a screen to go with it as well. For further information go to-Sony's website -or call 08705 424424.
