Philips Media Centre leaves small footprints

If Robinson Crusoe saw footprints the size of the Philips LX1000 PC on the beach he'd think there was someone very small living on his island.

And while he might wonder what someone with round feet was doing on the beach, he'd be impressed by the power of such a small machine when he finally confronted it.

The miniscule PC includes an AMD Turion 64 ML-34 Processor running at 1.8GHz, 1GB of DDR RAM, a 120GB hard disk, Wi-Fi, a dual layer DVD rewriter and an nVIDIA GeForce 6600 graphics engine.

Since it's the size of a hardback thriller at just 195mm tall, 58mm wide and 212mm deep and will fit snugly in your living room, it also doubles as an entertainment centre.

The Windows Media Centre software is complimented by a built-in hybrid TV tuner that delivers both analogue and digital channels, a remote control and wireless keyboard and mouse.

The unit is at a PC World store near you to buy from today.

It'll set you back £999 for the base unit, £1,199 with a 19 inch Sony flat panel monitor or £1,998 with a 32" Philips HD Ready LCD Digital TV.
