Revamped iPod nano incoming?

Apple prepares video playback for its petite player.

Rumour has it Apple's micro music player is going back to the drawing board, as the iPod giant prepares to squeeze video into the pocket-sized marvel.

Speculation surrounds yesterday's announcement of Apple's partnership with Nike, as the pair plan to offer fitness-themed video content through the iTunes music store.

Video content sounds swell, but not if the nano stays in its current form, unable to play it back.

A video update from Apple would make nano even more desirable, and could even accompany a hardware rethink.

Last month the Apple rumour mill threw up reports of a "significant internal redesign" for the nano - perhaps Nike's involvement was the last piece in the puzzle preventing the new version.
