Update of Apple's wonder phone to see the light tonight.

Forget the iPod Touch. Tonight Apple will lift the lid on the much rumoured iPhone 2 and give it a UK release date to boot.

We've already heard word coming from Cupertino that an updated version of America's favourite blower is in the pipeline, with a September release date mooted.

Packing 3G, it'll be ripe for the UK market, with our hefty web on the go demands and best of all, we'll find out exactly when we'll be able to get hold of one.

Sources at the BBC, where tonight's announcement will be broadcast to an Apple selected audience, have told us they've heard that we'll be witnessing the launch of the iPhone in the UK.

And the release of the new iPhone Rough Guide, due in book stores tomorrow, a day after Jobs takes the stage, is surely no coincidence.
